Great Northern Railway / London North Eastern Railway mahogany cased Telegraph Instrument bearing an original LNER Telegraph Code List in a brass frame attached to the side panel. The code lists the following from Crescent Junction to Essendine:- Crescent Jcn, Peterboro Nth T.O., Peterboro Nth S.B., Spital Jnc., Westwood Jnc., New England East, New England Sth., New England Nth., Werrington Jnc., Helpston, Lolham, Tallington, Essendine Sth., Essendine Nth. The date code on this card is June 1929. The instrument has the front indicator needle on a green dial, a front, sloping desk top with paper spike and a transmitting handle beneath. The whole item is in excellent, ex box condition (just a couple of side decorative strips missing) and the fact that it originated from the very stretch that Mallard broke the World Speed Record, makes it quite special.
