John Bradford Harper was born in Malton 1854, he joined the North Eastern Railway and was a clerk in 1871 at Driffield, then in 1901 Traffic Manager and by 1922 Assistant General Superintendent and started collecting artefacts from the Stockton & Darlington Railway, which were exhibited at the 1925 Centenary, he also founded a committee and was responsible for the formation of the York Railway Museum, Queens Road was opened around 1926/7.
