Great Eastern Railway Brass Fireman's Helmet with the 'flying wing' crest and large GER initials on the frontspiece. The swept crown has immense detail of oak leaf design and the central badge has a dragon either side that extends to the floral strap retainers. An incredible item retaining the original, leather head shield inside and the original leather strap to which the chain-mail chinstrap has been stitched. It has been lightly polished over the years and is presented in that condition but would look even more stunning polished properly. Without doubt one of the best items we have ever had the pleasure to auction and believed to be the first one ever to come on the market. The brass GER Armband in the next lot originated from the same owner.
