Early, etched glass London Street Sign WHITEHALL PLACE, S.W. This famous London thoroughfare links Northumberland Avenue where Charing Cross station is located and Whitehall/Horse Guards. Steeped in history, Christopher Wren living there in 1737 and when numbers 1 & 2 were formed into what is now the Commissioners Of Crown Lands, William Huskisson resided there as Commissioner. He became more famous for his death on the opening day of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway in 1830. Measures 36 x 13 including the old, wooden frame.
