Deltic Worksplate, The English Electric Company Ltd London No. 2921/D573 1960 The Vulcan Foundry Locomotive Works England. Ex Class 55 originally numbered D9016, later 55016. Introduced to traffic in October 1961 and allocated to Haymarket. Named GORDON HIGHLANDER at Aberdeen Station on the 28th July 1964 by Colonel W.J. Graham, Vice-Lieutenant of Kincardineshire. Withdrawn in December 1981 and believed to be currently owned by DRS although not operational. The plate is mounted on a board, as presented to the vendor by British Railways with an accompanying, official plaque 'Building Works Plate From Locomotive 55.016.Gordon Highlander. Presented to Julian L. Aldred by British Railways Eastern Region on 12 December 1980to mark his deep interest in Deltic Locomotives'. His (then) girlfriend, now wife, wrote to BR in an attempt to get a nameplate but only managed a pair of VIP tickets behind the last Deltic. However, upon return to York, was presented with this Worksplate.
