Worksplate GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY Co MAKERS DONCASTER E 1090 1896 ex Ivatt J4 0-6-0 built as works number 711 and numbered GNR 1090, LNER 4090, 4112 and BR 64112. Allocated to New England from where it was withdrawn in December 1951 and scrapped. Oval cast brass, face restored measures 10.75in x 6.5in. This is one of only a few plates where the works number had been erased and replaced with the GNR locomotive number.

Allocated for most of its working life to 37A Ardsley and withdrawn from there in February 1962 and scrapped at Doncaster Works. Oval engraved brass, face lightly cleaned, rear stamped 3168. Measures 12.25in x 7.5in.

Allocated 12D Workington from where it was withdrawn in September 1965 and scrapped at Motherwell Machinery & Scrap, Inslow Works, Wishaw. Diamond shaped cast brass face cleaned and has a repair to the left hand end, measures 15.25in x 6.25in.

Allocated to Copley Hill, Ardsley, Stratford and 31C Kings Lynn from where it was withdrawn in April 1958 and scrapped at Doncaster Works. Oval cast brass in as removed condition, measures 10.75in x 6.5in. Note this was on of the Push and Pull fitted locomotives.

Allocated to Gorton, Sheffield, Retford, Colwick, Annesley and 41J Langwith Junction from where it was withdrawn in July 1965 and scrapped at Drapers Hull. Oval cast iron in as removed condition with 63768 chalked on the back, measures 9in x 5in.

Ex O-4-0ST built in 1902 for Appleby Iron and then the order was cancelled, held in stock, then sold to a contractor in 1904 and worksplate altered to the new date. Oval hand engraved brass in lightly face cleaned condition. Measures 13.5in x 8in.

Rebuilt as Class QLs in 1924 and withdrawn in 1957. Circular cast brass face cleaned rear stamped 113, measures 7.75in diameter.

Circular cast brass face lightly cleaned, rear original with 10 25 48 E295 stamped in. Measures 16.5in diameter and weighs 5.8kg. In very good condition. From the Collection of the late Eric Ellis former Society Engineer of LMS 6201 Princess Elizabeth who purchased this plate from Alan Miller of San Diego CA and we have a copy of a sworn testament from Alan dated Nov 2007 that this plate is original. LOCO CO 1947 61230 ex Thompson B1 4-6-0 built by The North British Locomotive Company Glasgow as order number L963 works number 26131. Allocated to Ardsley and 56G Bradford Hammerton Street from where it was withdrawn in November 1962. Scrapped the following year at Darlington Works. Oval cast brass, lightly face restored, measures 9in x 5in.
Auction: March 2021 Sold for: £280Worksplate LOCOMOTIVFABRIK KRAUSS & CIE MUNCHEN & LINZ 1903 No 4955. Ex 1050mm gauge 0-6-0T, one of 12 supplied for the opening of the Hedjaz pilgrim railway from Damascus to Medina. 4955 was initially Hedjaz no.4 but subsequently re-numbered 10 and then 15. It survived the predations of T.E. Lawrence in World War One (No.17 is still out in the Arabian desert where he derailed it in 1917) and was taken into Palestine Rlys. stock after WWI but withdrawn in 1930, so it is likely the plate survived transferred to another of the class, some of which lasted into the 1950s Oval cast brass measuring 14in x 9.25in. Has been lightly cleaned. Together with a cast brass Nameplate in Arabic which roughly translates as Raouf pasha. Unfortunately we have been unable to find any information on the locomotive that carried this, the plate is curved to fit onto the side of a smokebox.
Auction: November 2020 Sold for: £1,500Worksplate LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY DONCASTER WORKS 1931 7615 ex Gresley V1 2-6-2 T rebuilt as a V3. Originally numbered 2915 then 7615 and lastly 67615. A 64B Haymarket locomotive for most of its service life and withdrawn from there in December 1962 and scrapped at Inverurie. Oval cast brass measuring 9in x 5in. Face cleaned and number chiselled off but visible.
