Brass Oil Box from ex S&D Loco 53803 that was built at Derby in 1914 and numbered 83. When renumbered by the LMS in 1930 it became 9673 and this is clearly stamped on the front of the box. It was renumbered again in 1932 to 13803 and this number is also stamped on the front. BR renumbered to 53803. The box was actually sited on the firebox back head on the footplate. Upon withdrawal at Bath Green Park, the loco was cannibalised and this box ended up on 53809. Geoff Akers, one time S&D Fireman at Green Park, recovered it from that loco at Barry scrapyard in October 1969 when he was an S&D member helping in the recovery of 53808. Geoff presented the box to the current vendor after it had lain in a garden shed for almost 41 years.
