Danvers who designed many well known posters for the SR and LNER and this one for the Midland Region of British Railways. It shows a small family on the ferry The Royal Iris (built 1906) from Liverpool. Ferries ran from Liverpool for almost 150 years until 1971, when berthing problems at low tide and the rise of car ownership destroyed the service.
