A delightful volume with 8 very thick card pages having gilt edging. The first page bearing an ornate scroll outlining the begging of his acceptance of a retirement cheque etc with full company title at the bottom dated October 1904. The remaining pages has successive entries of colleagues names written in fanciful script. A fully titled letter accompanies detailing the sending of the album and a cheque for GBP45. Note Mr Hogg was Assistant Superintendent at Bristol Temple Meads and details of this retirement was published in the Dec 1904 edition of the GWR magazine on page 21, showing a photo & half page of text covering his career. £

122 North Eastern Railway 8-inch oak cased iron dial clock with a cast brass bezel manufactured for the NER by Reid & Son of Newcastle upon Tyne circa 1870. North Eastern Railway 8-inch oak cased iron dial clock with a cast brass bezel manufactured for the NER by Reid & Son of Newcastle upon Tyne circa 1870. The quality early English fusee movement in fully overhauled condition has rectangular plates with shaped shoulders, which are held together by turned barrelled pillars with a central ring, the suspension back cock is also shaped, all of these features point to a movement made in the period 1860 to 1870. The White enamel painted dial rewritten by British Railways Doncaster clock repair works displaying bold Roman numerals and the legend BR 5399. The case is a traditional English drop dial clock case manufactured out of fine figured oak with a turned convex surround affixed to the back box by two battens with three tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional Mid-19th century design with one side access door and a bottom door secured by a brass turn, the side door also still retains some of the original Reid repair numbers. The LNER records show that this clock was last located at Newcastle Dist. Estate Agent Drawing Office at Clavering House, the records also show that this clock was NER number 322 and this number is stamped into the top of the back box. A nice clock that look to have been cleaned and serviced recently, In working condition complete with pendulum and key. £720

The Bible must have been rescued then and went into the Copp Family as written in the inside cover. The spine is missing and detachment has occurred, however, this is an amazing survivor without doubt. £100

When renumbered by the LMS in 1930 it became 9673 and this is clearly stamped on the front of the box. It was renumbered again in 1932 to 13803 and this number is also stamped on the front. BR renumbered to 53803. The box was actually sited on the firebox back head on the footplate. Upon withdrawal at Bath Green Park, the loco was cannibalised and this box ended up on 53809. Geoff Akers, one time S&D Fireman at Green Park, recovered it from that loco at Barry scrapyard in October 1969 when he was an S&D member helping in the recovery of 53808. Geoff presented the box to the current vendor after it had lain in a garden shed for almost 41 years. £300

Ex Standard Gauge LNER Class Y1/2 4-Wheeled Geared Tank loco which entered service in December 1933. It was originally numbered 59 but in October 1946 was renumbered 8153 and then in June 1951 under BR it became 68153. It was taken into Departmental stock in October 1954 and was again renumbered this time to 54. It spent its main line career working for the Permanent Way Department at Darlington. Three months after its withdrawal in June 1961 it was acquired by the Middleton Railway at Leeds where it can still be found today. Rear stamped S 310, it is totally ex loco condition. £400

Dating from the late 1920s onwards, these were part of the G.W.R.s Economic Maintenance System for lighter-used single lines. They controlled gangers locks in P.Way cabins along a stretch of single line and when put into operation enabled the ganger to withdraw a circular brass key, from either a round Signal Dept release instrument, or later the dog kennel type of release. At the same time the normal key token operation for the particular section would become inoperable, to protect the P.Way gang as they worked. £150
