Measures 17.5 x 3 and is in extremely good condition. The station, between Highley and Bewdley on the Kidderminster - Shrewsbury line, opened in February 1862. It closed on the 9 September 1963. The station was re-opened on 18 May 1974 as an integral part of the preserved Severn Valley Railway. £260
100 London & North Western Railway gilded, hallmarked silver Casket presented to Sir Richard Moon, Baronet on the occasion of the giving of Queens Park to the people of Crewe and in return, the presentation to him of first Freeman of Crewe 4th July 1887. London & North Western Railway gilded, hallmarked silver Casket presented to Sir Richard Moon, Baronet on the occasion of the giving of Queens Park to the people of Crewe and in return, the presentation to him of first Freeman of Crewe 4th July 1887. The casket has the enamelled Crewe Coat of Arms with motto Never Behind on one side and the L&NWR Britannia Coat of Arms on the other. Each side of the COAs is a hand painted image in full colour of locomotives, Webbs Compound & Stephensons Rocket and local images of Boating Lake and Horse-drawn Carriage. The ends have a single image of Old Shops & Offices 1843 and Euston Coffee Tavern 1885. The lid is topped with an impressive Phoenix and the inscription vincit omnia veritas with a circular, red enamel motif of the recipients initials. The side slopes of the lid have engravings of Euston Station 1858 and Britannia Bridge 1850. The rear slope is exquisitely engraved Sir Richard Moon Baronet, Chairman Of The London & North Western Railway Company, The First Honorary Freeman Of The Borough Of Crewe, Admitted 4th July 1887, F.W. Webb, Mayor. Inside the casket is a beautiful, colour Scroll with details of the presentation. Mounted on a plinth, the casket measures 8 high x 8.75 wide x 5 deep. The hallmark is clear being Birmingham 1886. It is housed in an original, purpose made, silk lined presentation box with brown leather covering and brass side handles. Accompanying is a large, ledger style book with several beautiful scrolls within including one signed by FW Webb. Additionally, an original portrait of Richard Moon, in oils with original gilded frame measuring 20 x 22 is with this. Renumbered No 46 in 1946, becoming 60046 in BR days. Entered traffic to Kings Cross MPD in August 1924. Allocations include Grantham, Copley Hill, Doncaster and New England. Withdrawn from Grantham in June 1963 and cut up just a few months later. Stamped on the rim and on the rear 2545 and also 46. Named after the famous Racehorse Diamond Jubilee, owned by H.R.H. Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) and winner in 1900 of the Derby, the 2000 Guineas and the St. Leger. A truly magnificent worksplate offered significantly in this special year of H.R.H Queen Elizabeths own Diamond Jubilee. £5350

The box itself was situated north of Hereford station on the main line to both Shrewsbury and Worcester, the actual junction branching off to Redhill Goods. The box closed on the 31st July 1966. £380

Makers name Kenning & Son, London on rear. Quite superb condition but the ribbon has through time, become a tiny bit worn. Together with a superb little bronze Midland Railway Rifle Club Medallion with the Wyvern dominating the front and the word MARKSMAN on the obverse. To complete this, there is a LMS WW2 enamel Railway Service Badge and an LMS Certificate for service through the General Strike. The badges belonged to the vendors grandfather, the certificate to his grandmother. A very nice, family collection. £250

Ex Bulldog Class 4-4-0 locomotive, built Swindon Works March 1903. Named SIR JOHN LLEWELYN after one of the GWR Directors who served the company between 1892-1922. Allocated new to Swindon, it also worked out of Oxford and Banbury. Withdrawn from Bristol Bath Road from where withdrawal took place in February 1939. Top rim stamped Engine Class 4.4.0 A.23 and the bottom rim is stamped Boiler Class B.A.. The rear is stamped 3422 which was the original number of SIR JOHN LLEWELYN, the loco being renumbered to 3370 in the 1912 renumbering scheme that the GWR implemented. Originally, 3370 was Bulldog TREMAYNE but this loco carried a combined name & numberplate. Face cleaned, rear ex loco. £

Two very nice, scarce signs. £220

The chain driven fusee movement appears to be in working order but has not been tested. The back of the plate is stamped GBE and the oak case is complete with its original cast bezel with the back of the box stamped 1173 B. The pendulum bob is also stamped 1173. The dial has been painted but would benefit from a repaint. Most of the original lettering, including 1173 B, is still discernible. The SR clock records show that this clock was originally supplied for use at London Bridge station and was then transferred to the CME department at Ashford (Kent). A nice example that would benefit from sympathetic restoration. £500

A magnificent painting depicting a 1953, Coronation Year scene of Tram 637 working No 2 route from Erdington to the city centre at the junction of Lichfield Road and Witton Park Road. The tram, along with three others shares the scene with a red MG open top sports car and a half-cab double decker. A recent shower has deposited a film of water on the road and the reflections add depth and reality to complete the scene. Beautifully framed, it measures 32 x 43.5 overall. Having adorned the artists studio for many years it has now finally come to the open market. Accompanied by a signed print, a catalogue of the artists current work and sealed greetings card. £2550

It was on the 13th April 1946 part of the set for the press run prior to the re-launch of the Golden Arrow after the War. Also, on the 21st June 1949 it formed part of the train that carried the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh from Waterloo to Weymouth for their visit to the Channel Islands. Additionally, on 21st November 1950 it was used for the state visit of Queen Juliana & Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands, between Dover and Victoria. £1000

Taff Vale Railway 12 inch mahogany cased drop dial trunk fusee clock, by Joseph Collings of Cardiff circa 1870. This significant and rare clock is in original ex railway condition with GWR on the dial and ghosted writing Jo Collings 22 Cardiff, probably indicating this was TVR clock No 22. The mahogany case features flame mahogany veneers, a brass bow tie lenticle window and ornately carved ears, the GWR ivorine numberplate No 2692 is screwed onto the left hand side of the case , the movement has shaped shoulders and turned barrelled pillars and is in working condition however the fusee wire line is frayed and will need to be replaced asap. Altogether a truly magnificent pre grouping time piece complete with pendulum and key. £2750

The back of the nameplate is clearly stamped with the usual Swindon identification and the letter R indicating the right-hand side. A magnificent, extended backplate nameplate measuring 72 in length and having the distinction of being one of only 3 Granges to have this feature (the others being Llanfrechfa and Forthampton). The plate is in wonderful, ex loco condition as is the Cabside Numberplate. Note: Morehampton Grange was a dwelling in the parish of Abbey Dore, a few miles north of Pontrillas in Herefordshire. £11000

HERCULES was an 82-ton British registered steam tug built in 1893 by Cook, Welton & Gemmell Hull starting its career there for The LNER at the Dock Co. In 1922 it moved to the London & North Eastern Railway Co, London Docks and in 1936 went to South Stockton Shipbreaking Co Ltd, Stockton-on-Tees and subsequently purchased in 1936 by William Pace Robson, St Anthonys-on-Tyne. On The 22nd November 1940, it was sunk off Tynemouth after hitting a German mine. A great rarity indeed. £35

The case is a traditional English dial clock case manufactured from Mahogany with a one piece turned convex surround fixed to the back box by two battens with two tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional mid to late 19th century design with one side access door and a bottom door with the usual John Walker cock beading and is secured with a brass lock, the case also retains its original LNWR enamel clock numberplate 2493. Ex GWR 4-6-0 Hall Class Locomotive built at Swindon Works in February 1930 and allocated new to Plymouth Laira. By 1948 had wandered to Old Oak and stayed in that area with a move to Southall in 1950. Further moves through the 50s saw allocations to Westbury and Taunton. Withdrawn from Severn Tunnel Junction in September 1964 and cut up at Hayes, Bridgend. The nameplate has been tenderly polished over the years and retains the original splasher paint. The cabside too has been polished over the years but has been professionally, face restored. It is stamped with class details in the top rim and boiler details in the lower rim. A wonderful set indeed. £9900

The oak case is complete with its original cast bezel and the back of the box stamped 1443 SE The original brass 1443 numberplate is present on the inside of the right hand door. The dial retains its post grouping lettering S.R. John Walker 1 South Molton street London 1443 SE. It is certainly very rare to see clocks still lettered SR as most were repainted BR(S). The SR clock records show that it was originally supplied for use at Victoria station carriage sidings cabin and was then transferred to Waterloo D Section stores department. A wonderful example in totally ex railway condition, that would benefit from sympathetic restoration. £2100

New to Dorking Rural District Council and registered as PH 6629 when registration numbers were introduced around 1921. On 1 April 1930 it moved to Surrey County Council who gave it the fleet number SR 29. By March 1937 it was with Alfred J. Ward & Sons of Egham, a contractor who used many rollers. By December 1954 it had arrived at J. & W. Hardwick & Sons, West Ewell, Surrey, for scrap. Ex loco condition. £320

The original nameplates were alloy but replaced with stainless steel reflective types at a later date. Much research has only produced one photograph showing the plaque which was never painted. It is in as removed condition from the Bristol Trimming shop where it received preparation for a repaint at St Philips Marsh. £410

The dial is free from chips and has Great Northern, John Walker 77 Cornhill London enamelled onto it. The Nickel case has Great Northern No 247 hand engraved to the rear, although this is somewhat worn. A lovely pre grouping watch and a rare survivor, it was owned by the late William Goodliff of Grantham who spent his working life as a guard on the Great Northern and later LNER and became an Alderman and Mayor of Grantham in 1951. £1150

Early LNER enamel sign, c1920s headed You Are At This Spot showing a local map of the area and lines to Chingford, Epping Seven Kings and Chigwell. A large black arrow is pointing to Grays Retreat which is on the road to Theydon Bois. The bottom of the sign says Nearest L.N.E.R Station Theydon Bois and London and Back 2/-. The map is black on white ground but the relevant lines are in red as is the border. Interestingly, a good number of local pubs are shown including Theydon Retreat (formerly Riggs) and Grays Retreat. Damaged by a parachute mine during the Second World War. The mine had actually fallen on Yates (formerly Riggs) Retreat on the other side of the road. It had become entangled with the helter skelter and destroyed Yates Retreat completely. Battalions of soldiers were stationed at the retreats during the war, and many of them were killed in this incident. Grays Retreat later took another direct hit from a bomb which destroyed it. Measuring 29 x 39.75 it is in very good condition for age despite some edge loss and a little fading. £360

A couple of original pegs remain, these were used to show the location of the many trains that would have been working at a given time in the vicinity. Not seen the likes before so quite a scarcity. 499 Amateur 8mm colour film taken by a local signalman of the 24th November 1960 accident at Pontrhydyfen. Amateur 8mm colour film taken by a local signalman of the 24th November 1960 accident at Pontrhydyfen. The crash is well documented but footage is unknown. The loco involved was Pannier Tank 9737 and there is dark footage of the loco (shows cabside numberplate), embedded in a diesel multiple unit. This film is on a full 3 spool. Also, on a full 7 spool, another 8mm colour film of the signalmans holiday to Germany in the 1960s. Mainly family clips but some brief glimpses of German electric and steam and also many shots of river traffic. Finally, another 3 spool marked Train from Cymmer to Bridgend - over exposed - 80% U/S. The original Keystone 20 Movie Camera is included (there is a film inside but not sure whether it has been exposed or not) and also an untested Elmo Projector. GWRA recommend the latter is checked by a qualified electrician before using. £30

A good quality English made watch with top wind and lever set for time adjustment. The dial is free from chips and has GWR enamelled below the XII position as well as the makers name. The good quality Nickel case has GWR hand engraved onto it and the number 3064 machine engraved, the numbered movement 328239 is fully signed Lancashire Watch Co Ltd. Prescot & London and the records show that this was made with 4 pairs of extra jewels. In working condition, the glass has been replaced long ago with the thick plastic type which has yellowed slightly. This type of watch is the rarest GWR pattern of all. £400
