LNWR C/I on Wood, double sided Platform Sign 'Booking Office & Waiting Room'. Ex Rhewl (Ruthin - Denbigh) Station, it measures 31" x 11½" with two hanging hooks along the top edge. Absolutely as it came off the station platform after closure. A 1965 photo accompanies with a steam freight approaching. The station looks pretty derelict and no evidence of this sign, however, an LNWR Bridge Plate is visible. |

There is an offer of £5 reward for information leading to the conviction. Signed Frank Potter, General Manager, Paddington Station Measures 14" x 10". A delightfully rare sign in such good condition. Together with an equally rare GWR Sign but sadly rusted, it is fully tited and reads: Passengers are requested to examine their Tickets and Change before leaving the Booking Offices as no mistakes can afterwards be recognised.Measures 14" x 9" and is somewhat dirty and rusted, but absolutely original and even has some 1915 graffitti. |

BR(W) Totem BUILDWAS, F/F.Ex GWR Severn Valley Line station between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth, closed in 1963. A lovely totem which has a few minor edge chips, the bottom couple just encroaching the cream banding, otherwise the face is excellent with no loss to any lettering or chocolate enamel. This totem, as can be seen in the accompanying photo, was pushed between the stakes of the fence backing the station platform. Just visible on the second photograph with 4114 in the platform and Buildwas Signalbox in the distance. Very rare to actually have a photograph of the very totem! |

Measures 6" tall and 6¼" diameter, the hinged lid is held by a clasp which would have housed a small padlock at some time. Broken down into departments, each fallen hero is listed by name, rank, regiment or ship and previous station employed at. Printed by Knapp Drewett & Sons Ltd., Kingston-on-Thames. Inside is the original, headed letter dated March 1921 which was sent to the appropriate relative asking that the details are checked for correctness. Above this is a brass push-button which opens the box to reveal a superb, mahogany cased Switching Out Box . The front of the first box drops down to enable the lid of the inside box to slide forward and off to reveal the mechanism. A rare sign indeed and it is in totally unrestored condition with a fair amount of original, green paint and the original screws intact.Note: The West London Extension Railway ran from Kensington to Clapham Junction and was incorporated 13th August 1859 and opened on the 1st May 1863. It was a joint line under GWR, LNWR, LSWR and LBSCR and after nationalization, retained it's joint identity under the GWR, LMS and SR. Evidently there were only 5 Signal Boxes that would have carried this particular sign. How many survived is not really known so don't miss this golden opportunity to own one of the country's greatest rarities. |

Nameplate BOSCASTLE with original West Country Class Scroll. Ex Southern Railway 4-6-0 Bulleid Pacific 34039, built Brighton Works in October, 1946 and originally numbered 21C139. Firstly allocated to Stewarts Lane and remained there until 1950. Saw regular service on the "Golden Arrow" Pullman Express from London to Dover and in 1948 was officially named in the July. Became one of three members of the class to be loaned to the Great Eastern section in May, 1951 and was officially transferred to Stratford in August, 1951. It returned to Brighton in February 1952 where it remained for seven years working through trains to Salisbury and Bournemouth. Rebuilt 1959 at Eastleigh and transferred to Bournemouth.Finally allocated to Eastleigh in September 1962. It remained there until withdrawal in May, 1965. On the 27th April 1963, it was one of several Bulleids to work Southampton - Birmingham through trains for the FA Cup Tie between Birmingham and Southampton. A memorable occasion for any West Midlands Spotter. Coincidentally, there is a photograph of Boscastle, resting at Tyseley during this very match, next to 7929, Wyke Hall, in Blenkinsop Big Four Cameraman Book. Sold as scrap to Woodham's the following October. Fortunately rescued for preservation in 1973, turning those weird but wonderful wheels again in 1993. |

We sold one of these back in May 2001going to the National Collection who had been after one for literally years. The front cover was also a very famous Poster. We are now privileged to have aquired another. Here's an extract: " That's a good excuse, said the guard, who was wearing a cap with the letters N.E.R upon it. Signal Lamps, a pair together with a BR(M) Signal Lamp Interior. The Signal Lamps are the same, standard size but slightly different. One has a large Bullseye Lens and would have been used on a normal signal, the other has a small, flat lens and would have been used on a Ground Signal. The lamp interior has a Lamp Manufacturing brass plate attached and a small plate on the top which reads: 55/4. All three unrestored. |

Telephone Instrument from the Bass Brewery. A very rare Dictograph telephone with bakelite handset and rest, sat on a square wooden box with 6 up-down, spring loaded push to talk switches. Each of these has an indicator including 'Works' 'Casks' 'Belder' etc. A lovely instrument for the discerning telephone collector. In original condition with no visible damage. |
