The station looks pretty derelict and no evidence of this sign, however, an LNWR Bridge Plate is visible.

BR(W) Totem BUILDWAS, F/F.Ex GWR Severn Valley Line station between Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth, closed in 1963. A lovely totem which has a few minor edge chips, the bottom couple just encroaching the cream banding, otherwise the face is excellent with no loss to any lettering or chocolate enamel. This totem, as can be seen in the accompanying photo, was pushed between the stakes of the fence backing the station platform. Just visible on the second photograph with 4114 in the platform and Buildwas Signalbox in the distance. Very rare to actually have a photograph of the very totem!

Measures 6" tall and 6¼" diameter, the hinged lid is held by a clasp which would have housed a small padlock at some time. Great Central Railway Memorial Roll Booklet dedicated to The Staff of The Great Central Railway Who Gave Their Lives For Their Country In The Great War 1914 - 1918. This 43 page booklet has an Architect's Drawing inside the front cover depicting the Memorial to be erected at Sheffield Station in honour of the 1302 Great Central Railway Men who gave their lives. Broken down into departments, each fallen hero is listed by name, rank, regiment or ship and previous station employed at. Printed by Knapp Drewett & Sons Ltd., Kingston-on-Thames. Inside is the original, headed letter dated March 1921 which was sent to the appropriate relative asking that the details are checked for correctness. Good condition with a little grubbiness and minor folds/nicks. A very touching and, this very month in particular, poignant Memorial.

GWR C/I Tenderplate No 2810 4000 Gallons Swindon. Tender was built in 1939 for Roydon Hall which went new to Shrewsbury. Also saw service with Haddon, Goytrey, Howick, Wycliffe, Speke and Owsden Halls but significantly, was at some time attached to 4053 Princess Alexandra, 5052 Earl of Radnor, 4084 Aberystwyth castle and 5062 Earl of Shaftesbury. Face restored some time ago.

Nameplate WYKE HALL ex 4-6-0 'Hall' Class Locomotive number 7929, built Swindon December 1950 being the very last of the Halls ever to be built. A Tyseley engine until 1955, then to St Philips Marsh until 1959. Had a short spell at Croes Newydd, St. Blazey and Banbury, ending at Tyseley once more until withdrawal in 1965. Sold as scrap to Birds, Swansea. Note, Wyke Hall is near Gillingham in Dorset.

GWR Carriage Ventilator Advertising Panel with a fully titled Cold Luncheon & Tea Baskets Advert listing all the stations on the Great Western System that provide this service. Also encompasses the Communication between Passengers, Guard and Driver and the use of the Communication Chain. Dated July 1920, it is a wooden construction ventilator panel which is also glazed to hold the advert. The two top brass hinges are clearly stamped GWR and the rear wood is branded '48' which was the actual carriage number in which this was fitted. LNWR Mahogany Box bearing a brass plate on the face engraved L&NW Ry Co No 35 Blakey Emmott & Co Halifax. Above this is a brass push-button which opens the box to reveal a superb, mahogany cased Switching Out Box . The front of this box has a brass handle with a brass plate either side, one marked Closed one marked open. The front of the first box drops down to enable the lid of the inside box to slide forward and off to reveal the mechanism. Stamped into the wood on the front rim of the inside box is again, the makers name and also the number 11 (which is also stamped into the lid). A very well made and attractive device.Came from Port Dinorwic Signalbox, Menai Bridge to Caernarfon line.

A wonderful little 15 page booklet with a vignette of the hotel on the front cover showing horse-drawn carriages and an extremely early motor car. First two pages are the tariff of charges for rooms and the restaurant. Subsequent pages list various trains and destinations, ie Electric Trains to Liverpool and Southport, Hourly service to Manchester, Expresses to Leeds..Harrogate..York..Scarborough and Newcastle, etc. Measures just 3½" x 2¾" and is in very good condition with very minor stains.

Worksplate The Vulcan Foundry (Limited) Newton-Le-Willows Lancashire No.4740 of 1936. Ex LMS 2-8-0 Stanier 8F Locomotive 48063. Accompanying Record Card shows accurate history from 1951 of Works visits only. Other records show this was a 16B (Westhouses and Kirkby-in-Ashfield) loco for the majority of its working life. Face restored, back unrestored with loco number painted on later. A nice plate enhanced considerably with it's Record Card.

West London Extension Railway fully titled C/I Signalbox Door Notice, No Unauthorized Person Is Allowed In This Box. A rare sign indeed and it is in totally unrestored condition with a fair amount of original, green paint and the original screws intact.Note: The West London Extension Railway ran from Kensington to Clapham Junction and was incorporated 13th August 1859 and opened on the 1st May 1863. It was a joint line under GWR, LNWR, LSWR and LBSCR and after nationalization, retained it's joint identity under the GWR, LMS and SR. Evidently there were only 5 Signal Boxes that would have carried this particular sign. How many survived is not really known so don't miss this golden opportunity to own one of the country's greatest rarities.

Nameplate BOSCASTLE with original West Country Class Scroll. Ex Southern Railway 4-6-0 Bulleid Pacific 34039, built Brighton Works in October, 1946 and originally numbered 21C139. Firstly allocated to Stewarts Lane and remained there until 1950. Saw regular service on the "Golden Arrow" Pullman Express from London to Dover and in 1948 was officially named in the July. Became one of three members of the class to be loaned to the Great Eastern section in May, 1951 and was officially transferred to Stratford in August, 1951. It returned to Brighton in February 1952 where it remained for seven years working through trains to Salisbury and Bournemouth. Rebuilt 1959 at Eastleigh and transferred to Bournemouth.Finally allocated to Eastleigh in September 1962. It remained there until withdrawal in May, 1965. On the 27th April 1963, it was one of several Bulleids to work Southampton - Birmingham through trains for the FA Cup Tie between Birmingham and Southampton. A memorable occasion for any West Midlands Spotter. Coincidentally, there is a photograph of Boscastle, resting at Tyseley during this very match, next to 7929, Wyke Hall, in Blenkinsop Big Four Cameraman Book. Sold as scrap to Woodham's the following October. Fortunately rescued for preservation in 1973, turning those weird but wonderful wheels again in 1993.

Midland Railway 3 aspect Handlamp, also from Sturminster Newton on the S&D. Stamped clearly MRCo on the side, the aspect insert has a brass plate 'E' indicating that it is from an LSWR Lamp (Eastleigh) But this is exactly as given by the Ganger to the Vendor the day after the closure of the S&D. Obviously the railwaymen did their best to keep lamps working no matter what sort of mismatch it made. Additionally, the reservoir isn't the right one either and it has no burner, but the young lad, as he was, would have been none the wiser then!

NER Children’s Book titled ' Alice in Holiday Land'. This 47 page storybook is truly superb. The superb illustrations are by Frank H. Mason (1876 - 1965) with Noel Pockock sharing each by adding his cartoon style character. We sold one of these back in May 2001going to the National Collection who had been after one for literally years. The front cover was also a very famous Poster. We are now privileged to have aquired another. Here's an extract: " That's a good excuse, said the guard, who was wearing a cap with the letters N.E.R upon it. Nobody Ever Returns from Holidayland if they can help it, is that what the letters on your cap means, said Alice. Not exactly right said the guard. You see, they might stand for Nice Easy Running. Spent a large part of it's life at Annesley and ended up at Kingmoor in 1966 before withdrawal in November 1967. There is a fabulous colour photograph of the loco emerging from Catesby Tunnel, Sept 1961, clearly showing the smokebox numberplate, in John Scott Morgans book 'The 9Fs BR's Heavy Freight Locomotives. John Smiths Public House Advertising Lantern, complete with Goose-neck bracket. Ideal for the railway room, this lantern is a 4 sided, fluted type with copper top. The front panel has the John Smiths Tadcaster Brewery trade sign, both left and right side have the Magnet Ales Logo. The back is plain green. Excellent condition but we are unable to vouch for the electrical safety and recommend it be checked by a qualified electrician if intending to connect the electricity supply.

LMS Excess Fare Ticket Books, qty 3, one from Derwen, one from Kinnerton and one from Caerwys. All appear complete (one has back cover missing) with 100 used tickets in each, earliest 1944. Together with qty 4 BR Excess Fare Ticket Books, all from Barnstaple Town, earliest date 1954. These are extremely interesting to see the various journeys people made and the prices they paid.
