Slide collection - Rails Around Salop in the 1950's and 1960's. A presentation of qty 5, double slide boxes containing b/w slides. A wonderful collection with a hand written booklet listing every slide with location, date and content. Some appear to be missing and the order goes a little awry at times but most are fully populated. An incredible walk through history in the Salop area with locos, trains, stations, signalboxes etc. Starts with images of Shrewsbury station and following many routes and branches. Comes with full copyright passing to buyer. Just a small sample illustrated. A significant quantity of what appears to be spare negatives and a good quantity of b/w photographs accompany (These may not necessarily match the slides).

Slide collection - Cornish Railways 1983 - 1987. A presentation of qty 5, double slides boxes containing colour slides (approx 450 slides). A wonderful collection with a hand written booklet listing every slide with location, date and content. The journey commences at Calstock and follows the lines and branches with shots of stations, infrastructure, trains etc. There does appear to be some blanks and the sequence doesn’t match the reference completely so may require sorting. A quantity of what appears to be spare negatives accompany .

Slide collection - Chester to Holyhead in the early 1960's. A remarkable journey through a slide presentation of well over 400 b/w slides contained in qty 5 double slide cases. Accompanied by a booklet detailing every slide, this is a remarkable archive showing trains, locos, infrastructure etc. A quantity of what appears to be spare negatives accompany (not necessarily matching the slides) Also, a very nice Slide collection - A Childhood Journey. A wonderful slide presentation contained within qty 2 double slide boxes which are approximately half populated. Accompanying paperwork describes the slides. This isn't necessarily all railway as it shows beach and amusement park scenes from the 60's, all part and parcel of a railway journey in that era (some colour slides in this presentation)

The Rail Rover contains colour slides of Kyle of Lochalsh, Edinburgh and Settle & Carlisle line; Exeter, Milford, Central Wales and Shrewsbury; End of Gunnislake Barnstaple line; Looe Branch and start of Gunnislake; Falmouth and start of Looe Branch; Rhyl, Harrogate, York, Scarborough, Hull, Kings Cross; Penzance & St Ives Branch. WWII Military Slides, qty 71 issued by and annotated 'Property of the US Army & Air Force', all of ships owned by the Royal Navy, Japanese Navy, Italian Navy and German Navy. Each is marked with the name and nationality of the ship. Includes HMS Orion; HMS Churchill; HMS Achates; HMS Javelin; HMS Bayntun; HMS Orwell; Scharnhorst; Tirpitz; Garibaldi Class; Kongo Class; Yubari Class; Mogami Class; Atago Class to name a mere few. George Stephenson Commemorative Medal, 49mm depicting the bust, sculptured by JS  & AB Wyon, of the great man himself with name around the circumference and the date 1781 - 1848. The obverse has a fine image of his first locomotive, 'Blucher', built at and for use at the Killingworth Colliery in Tyne and Wear. Excellent condition.

German commemorative Medal, 46mm diameter dated 1844.Bust of a woman sitting on a stone, similar to Britannia, inscribed 'Seid Cinig'. She is holding a wreath and sword. Around the edge it says,'Erinerung an die ausstellung deutscher gewerbserzeugnisse zu Berlin 1844'. Obverse shows a ring of engraved industry pics with a train on a bridge in the middle. Around the edge it is inscribed 'Vorwaerts mit deutschem fleisse und deutscher kraft'

Great Western Railway Medallion depicting the Locomotive NORTH STAR. Bronze type metal 450mm diameter, the inscription beneath the locomotive is 'Designed & Built by Robert Stephenson & Co Supplied to the GWR 1837. The obverse has the GWR twin shield crest with curtain surround and date below of 1836. Around the periphery is the inscription 'Great Western Railway Compy Incorporated by Act Of Parliament. A superb item in excellent condition, one miniscule knick to edge of rim at bottom on loco side, barely noticeable.

GWR Jacket with circular, red roundel badge on both lapels and 6 GWR brass Buttons affixed (plus a spare one stitched beneath one lapel. No size or makers tag attached but it is in excellent condition.

GWR china Poster Paste Pot with fluted periphery, one large slot and two small slots on the top to accommodate brushes. A wonderful item, still retaining the original GWR Stationery Department Paddington label beneath addressed to 'Station Master' Great Western Railway. Measures 6" in diameter and stands just over 3½" tall. The initials G.W.R. are within the glaze on the top. Although it is cracked between 2 of the slots, it is still in extremely good condition and would display exceptionally well. Certainly not common.

GWR 25 Years First Aid Efficiency Medal with enamel centre badge. Engraved on rear with recipients name and GWR number 2260 William Prescott dated 1946. The hallmark is Birmingham (Anchor - lion - capital X) and the medal comes with a 20 year, plain brass bar, and a 30 years, 35 years and 40 years enamelled brass bars. A delightful item in original presentation box.

Order Of St Johns Priory For Wales Medal in bronze. Engraved on rear 'WA 1662  1924 William J Prescott'. He was a GWR Signalman serving in South Wales and his GWR Medals are also in this auction. Comes with 36 yearly bars from 1926 until 1960. With this is a silver coloured lapel badge with pin back 'Great Western Railway Centre, 'St John Ambulance Association' with cross in centre and the GWR 'wing' at the top.

Black lettering on white ground with punched eyelets at the top fitted with string to hang in shop window. Bears the code (156 - 1) above the 'R'. The rear has a list of '8 Good Points To Bear In Mind'  extolling the virtues of using the GWR to send your goods. It has 'Shipston Station Telephone 432' and a further date code of 1940 next to that. A very scarce item indeed.

Swindon cast model of a King Class Locomotive measuring approximately 13" in length. The heavy, hollow cast models were made at Swindon when the Kings were constructed. Quite a scarcity, this one has one tender buffer missing.

The sea trip from Chepstow was on the Britannia or Westward Ho. Somewhat ragged around the edges but a scarce survivor that has now been preserved behind glass.

It shows two trains leaving at 7.23am and 9.50 am from Callington Road, Stoke Climsland, Latchley, Gunnislake and Calstock. Rather ragged and has been taped on rear but a real scarcity nevertheless. Together with  a fully titled, headed letter to a Mr C. Maker informing him of his appointment at Callington Station dated May 25th 1914. The appointment was Junior Clerkmanship at 10/6d per week. Also a somewhat ragged, fully titled Account Sheet dated December 1913.

The third York - Darlington dated 1946. These are most interesting items that would have spooled onto a projection type screen and rotated by hand as the route progressed.
