Worksplate Built 1954 Brighton. Oval C/I, face restored, rear ex loco. Looks to have 80034 very faintly on rear.

ADDENDUM: The number on the rear is more likely to be 80084 and not 80034 as further checks show that '34' was built earlier and '84' was most certainly built in 1954. The plate measures 10 5/8" x 6 1/8"

Neilson Reid & Co Hyde Park Locomotive Works No 6316 Glasgow 1903. Believed to be an original but cast with a defect so wasn't used. It has a visible repair on rear which may have caused the item to be rejected. The bolt holes are marked with punch and countersink so it was planned to drill out. The size is also a mystery being 9¼" x 6¾" approximately, somewhat large for a Neilson Reid plate. The number ties in with a Great Southern & Western Railway (Ireland) 4-4-0 locomotive number 312 but of course, never carried so sold as such. Together with a BR 'D' type Wagon plate B418030 21T Shildon 1955 Lot No 2731, unrestored.
